RESEARCHING YOUR ANCESTORS
Delving into your Cornish Ancestors makes you wonder if any were Tin or Copper Miners, Fishermen, Farmers or Pasty Makers. Were they working aged only ten or eleven years old? Did any female ancestors work in the Tin Mines? How did they live? Were they poor, comfortable or wealthy? Did they stay in Cornwall or move away? Did any join the Gold Rush in America? All the answers to these questions usually produce even more questions! Whatever is discovered is usually very interesting, sometimes exciting and gives an enhanced insight into your family and its past members.

YOUR RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS
We offer an initial free discussion about your research requirements, which enables us to work out a plan of research. We would need to know the details you already have, in order that we don't duplicate your work, and as we can research for as few or as many hours as you would like, it would help us to have an idea as to what number of hours you would like us to research for you initially. This is so that you can budget your costs - we can always pick up where we left off at a later date if that is more practical for you.
If you are a newcomer to this fascinating subject, we should warn you that you will not discover your full family tree in a couple of hours! Sometimes in that period, we can discover quite a lot about your family history, but sometimes, there is very little about certain ancestors - depending on what records are available or whether the ancestors have chosen to just move away somewhere!
Sometimes you can get so far back and then hit a brick wall. From personal experience, it took us almost ten years (and a search through over 300 Parish Registers) to find the Baptism and Parents of one ancestor in the early 1700s!! This was a real labour of love, but in finding it, we have managed to take that line back to the beginning of the 1600s. So, it will be up to you whether you want to try and smash through a brick wall if we find one (they won't all take up to ten years to smash through - don't let that put you off, as it is not that common and it was a personal choice to carry on), or you can follow-up other ancestors and lines within your family.
Some clients just like to trace their direct line, some like to trace just the men in the family, some like to trace everyone in a branch, and some like to trace their whole tree - it's never-ending and you choose which way you want to go and how far back you want to go, original sources permitting. If it looks like a particular part of the research is not really going anywhere, due to lack of records or just very little about a particular ancestor etc., then we will inform you of this, to prevent wastage of your funds.

Whatever you choose for the course of the research we undertake for you, we will send you a full report of our findings which will detail our searches; provide copies or transcripts of any records found; draw up a family tree detailing what has been discovered; also included will be photographs and other illustrative items that we have been able to ascertain, all giving you an interesting, intriguing and wonderful record of your ancestry.
