CORNISH KINFOLK - PHOTOGRAPHIC SERVICE
ILLUSTRATIVE MEMORABILIA
It is always interesting to discover new information about our ancestors, and better still to have some sort of illustration taken from their time period. Some of us are extremely lucky to have in our possession photographs of particular ancestors, so at least we have an idea of what they were like, rather than just being a name. But, unfortunately for some, there are no such photographs and all they have then is a name and some details about particular people in their family. w v u v w

We can take good quality photographs of your ancestral homes and other buildings (provided they are still in existence, even if in a ruined state). Some clients already know of a home or other building associated with their ancestor, but for those of you with no knowledge of where your ancestors lived, it may be possible to discover where they lived through the census returns and other sources. If only the name of the street is discovered, then we can take a best view of that street, so that you have some record of where your ancestors lived.

For all of us interested in our family history, it is more satisfying if we can have some sort of illustration of some aspect of our ancestor's lives. Hence photographs of our ancestor's homes (if they haven't disappeared over time); the churches where they married, had their children baptised and eventually where they lay at rest; gravestone markers and memorials (if not worn away due to weather and time); the tin mine they worked in and so on, give a glimpse of what things were like for them during their lifetime.
|
Most churches have survived for centuries so it is very possible that we would be able to take photographs of churches particularly associated with your ancestors. We can look for and hopefully find gravestones of your ancestors, but in the event that no gravestone is discovered, we can take photographs of the church and churchyard, again so that you have an illustrated example touching on important milestones in your ancestor's lives.

When we come across original sources of records that cannot be photocopied due to their age or delicateness, we may be able to take photographs of this instead. Failing that, we will send you a typed transcription.

The photographs will be a minimum size of 6" x 4" but in most cases will be larger. They will be neatly presented with descriptive sheets informing you of what they are and where they were taken, together with any other useful details.
